With the British economy seemingly unstable following the Referendum result last month, it may come as a surprise to hear that almost nine in 10 new UK jobs that have been created in the last three months were from self-employment.

The number of self-employed people in the UK has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of years. Rising from 3.8 million in 2008 to 4.6 million in 2015, almost one in six, or 15.1%, of all UK workers are self-employed. This is somewhat indicative the country’s economic recovery since the recession, while also highlighting opportunities for growth within the competitive British economic marketplace.
According to the Office for National Statistics, of the 118,000 full-time jobs added in the most recent three-month period, 104,000, which equates to 88%, are self-employed. Phil, adds, “The rise in self-employment is great news for the UK economy – and comes at a time when many really need some positive news. The fallout from the Brexit result has unsettled many, with numerous reports indicating another recession. However this revelation in fact indicates the opposite.”
