In this fast-paced world, some businesses are looking to invest technology to keep them ahead of the competition, while others are reluctant to invest for fear of it becoming outdated or obsolete. Pallet Truck Shop, one of the leading retailers of warehouse equipment to a range of sectors, has underlined the need for businesses to do their research before spending money to ensure they are investing wisely, while also emphasising the futureproof nature of materials handling and logistics equipment.
Phil Chesworth, Managing Director at Pallet Truck Shop, said, “Businesses are always looking to get the most out of their investments, but in this digital world, that is not always possible. Technology dates very quickly, meaning they often have to re-invest after a very short period of time. Manual equipment on the other hand does not date half as quickly, so actually represents excellent value for money.”
The digital age means that all businesses will have to advance with technology is they are to move forwards. However the increased importance on digital technologies has meant that businesses have focussed too heavily on digital hardware and software in order to gain a competitive edge, while ignoring other areas of the business. This has led to many discovering they simply do not need the abundance of computers and tech. In fact, tech company, 1E, recently conducted a survey among large enterprises in the UK and US and unused software. It found that approximately $7.4 million is wasted every single year on under-utilised software, with smaller companies still suffering a loss.
“The Brexit vote has caused businesses to be even more cautious with spending,” added Phil. “However it’s not advised that businesses stop investing, but in fact look at ways they can make valuable improvements to businesses, while making sure they are investing wisely. Manual handling equipment is essentially futureproof – unlike digital equipment and programs.”
