Pallet trucks can be used for a wide variety of different applications, and depending on their construction, can even have some specialist capabilities. From low profile pallet trucks to scissor lift trucks which can elevate loads, all types of goods and pallets can be moved from A to B within an industrial workplace.

Phil Chesworth of Pallet Truck Shop, the UK’s largest supplier of pallet and sack trucks, says, “Many pallet trucks are specialised so that they can carry different-shaped loads through awkward environments. Whether an organisation specialises in low-clearance pallets, or whether they need to lift their pallets to higher levels in order to complete certain tasks or unload them at a certain height, there is a pallet truck that can fit the bill.”

The PT-SCI-01 scissor lift hand pallet truck can elevate pallets for loading and unloading purposes, and has a number of top-quality features, including a hydraulic pump with a hand valve for optimum control, and a three-position lever with fingertip control for the operators. Entry rollers are fitted as standard at the tips of the forks so that pallets are easily loaded and unloaded, and there is a choice between polyurethane wheels and nylon wheels. Each have their advantages, the main ones being the nylon wheels are more durable, whereas polyurethane wheels are quieter and smoother, for use in environments such as shop floors or public areas.

At the other end of the scale is the PT-LOW-01 low-profile hand pallet truck, which is best-suited to the low-clearance, disposable pallets which are becoming increasingly common. Tandem rollers fitted to this truck make the loading process much easier, and lessen the strain on the operator manoeuvring the heavy loads. Both open-boarded and closed-boarded pallets can be used on the truck, which has a capacity of 1000kg. There are also two choices where lowered height is concerned; the truck can either be 31mm or 55mm, meaning that the truck can be tailored to fit the needs of each workplace.

As well as these specialised pallet trucks, there are trucks with extra-long forks, trucks which can navigate rough terrain, trucks with built-in weighing capabilities and trucks made from galvanized steel for use within harsh environments. The pallet truck continuously proves itself to be one of the most versatile and useful pieces of equipment within an industrial workplace, with such a range of demands catered to and all working environments fully taken care of.
